The Savages managed just one hit off Winn, who struck out nine batters while earning his fifth win, but walked seven batters and allowed an unearned run to score in the seventh before Rambo struck out the final batter to keep Sigourney from rallying for the win. Kolby Allsup had the big hit in the only scoring rally for the Panthers in the second, delivering a two-run double in the three-run frame.
Sigourney finishes the season with a record of 8-17. Pekin, meanwhile, will look to avenge a regular-season 5-0 loss to Cardinal as the 13-11 Panthers meet the 16-11 Comets in the district semifinals in Keota on Thursday night at 7.

Warhawks hold off late rally by Lynnville-Sully
MONTEZUMA – The North Mahawks Warhawks rallied after a slow start to open a 7-3 lead on South Iowa Cedar League rival Lynnville-Sully Tuesday night, then held on the Hawks scored in the seventh inning and brought the tying run to home plate. A final strikeout allowed North Mahaska to advance to the Class 1A, District 9 semifinals with a 7-4 win over the Hawks in Montezuma.
The Warhawks improved to 22-8 with the victory. North Mahaska will play the Braves on Montezuma’s home field Thursday night in the district semifinals.
Van Buren bounces Burlington-Notre Dame
DANVILLE – Van Buren picked up its 21st win of the season by beating a Southeast Iowa Superconference south division rival to open postseason play on Tuesday. The Warriors jumped on top of Burlington-Notre Dame early and won easily, 8-1, in the second round of Class 1A, District 8 competition in Danville.
