Late hit lifts Centerville past Oskaloosa

---- — CENTERVILLE — J.D. McDanel came up with a clutch two-run single in the top of the sixth inning while Kolton Gonnerman slammed the door shut on Oskaloosa, striking out seven batters to record all seven outs in a relief win as the Centerville Big Reds rallied for a 2-1 win in the Class 3A, District 7 semifinals. The victory sends Centerville (22-16) into matchup on its home diamond against South Central Conference champion, seventh-ranked Chariton, Monday night at Pat Daugherty Field in the district finals.

Travis Gile drove in Nick Rutledge for the only Oskaloosa run of the night in the bottom of the fifth.

The Indians finish the season with a 15-22 record.
