AREA BOYS BASKETBALL ACTION: Big Reds roll to 10th straight win

SIGOURNEY — The area’s top scorer helped keep one of the area’s hottest teams rolling on Tuesday. Vaclav Bujnoch added a 20-point night to his area-best 21.7 scoring average as Sigourney toppled Tri-County, 62-28, in South Iowa Cedar League boys basketball action.

The victory extends the Savages’ winning streak to eight straight games. Bujnoch added 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Kevin Weber poured in 12 points.

Both Sigourney (11-2) and Tri-County next take on Montezuma. The Savages head to Monte on Friday while the Braves travel to Thornburg next Tuesday to take on the Trojans.

Blue Demons blow out Pleasantville

ALBIA — Tanner Kellogg scored 33 points while Matt Baker added 25 as the Albia boys basketball team took a 77-55 non-conference win over Pleasantville in action on Monday.

Kellogg also grabbed 14 rebounds while Baker drilled five 3-pointers for Albia, who improved to 7-5 overall on the season.

“Those two guys did the scoring, but we had nine guys step tonight, and all of them did some really good things,” said Albia coach Kevin Archer.

The Blue Demons will look to improve on their 2-2 South Central Conference record with action Friday at Chariton.
