AREA GIRLS BASKETBALL ACTION: 12th-ranked Moravia stays unbeaten

CHARITON — The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont girls basketball team defeated Chariton 51-40 Monday in a South Central Conference game.

“It was a physical game and I was proud of the way the girls battled and didn’t back down from that,” Rocket coach Tony Fenton said. “We had a few nice looks inside and also some outside shots.”

Tasha Alexander spearheaded E-B-F’s offense, as she compiled a team-high 18 points and connected on three of seven 3-pointers.

Makenzie Jensen added 14 points to the Rockets’ final tally and Jarrah Jensen scored 13 points and hauled in nine rebounds.

Allyson Showers and Miranda Davis paced the Chargers with 11 points each. Chariton (2-9) plays host to Albia Friday in an SCC game. EBF (8-4, 5-1) plays Clarke Friday at Osceola in SCC action.
