Van Buren boys sixth at Hawk Relays

DONNELLSON — The Van Buren boys track team saved its best run for last on Monday night, coming in with a strong second-place showing in the 4x400 finale as a time of 3:51.57 from the group of Brayden Starnes, Garrett Saunders, Wyatt Cole and Thomas Fitzsimmons brought the Warriors within 0.35 seconds of Fort Madison in an exciting conclusion to Central Lee’s Hawk Relays.

The Warriors collected 23 points as a team on Monday, finishing sixth in the event. Fort Madison took the team crown with 177 points, besting Mediapolis by 51.

The Van Buren boys run again on Thursday afternoon at Louisa-Muscatine at 4:45 p.m.
