Indians take third at home triangular

OSKALOOSA — The Oskaloosa boys varsity team took third at Edmundson Golf Course in a triangular with Pella and Grinnell Tuesday with a collective score of 174 strokes.

“We are young and we have to learn to compete against good teams,” Oskaloosa coach Bret Foster said.

The Indians shot only five strokes higher than Grinnell, which finished with a collective score of 169, and 21 strokes behind first place Pella. The Indians score was buoyed by Clay Tucker and Tanner Lanphier, who both shot a 42. Andrew Brouwer followed closely behind his teammates with a 44 and Andrew Shaffer and Ethan Farner each finished with a 46. Rounding things out for the Indians was Logan Lunsford, who carded a 59.

Oskaloosa’s junior varsity team also finished third in its meet. The Indians will be back at Edmondson in a week where they will play host to the Oskaloosa Invitational.

“We have a lot of work to do and hopefully the weather will cooperate,” Foster said.
