---- — ALBIA — Just 24 hours removed from nearly cooling off one of the area’s hottest teams, the Albia softball team stepped right back on the diamond to earn an impressive South Central Conference win on Thursday.

Rechelle Hindman drilled a pair of home runs, driving in four of Albia’s six runs as the Lady Dees beat Davis County 6-2 one night after losing twice to Fairfield, falling in the opener 8-7 as the Trojans escaped Monroe County with a 13-game winning streak in tact.

“We came off that near split with Fairfield where I thought we did a lot of good things and I think the girls felt really good about themselves,” Albia head softball coach Mitch Chance said. “To get eight hits and six runs against a strikeout pitcher like (Rylee) Eakins is really impressive. This is one of the better wins we’ve had all year in terms of executing in all phases of the game.”

Davis County scattered four extra-base hits. Cami Guiter had a pair of hits, including a double, while Heaven Harper tripled and scored for the Mustangs.

Karley Williams helped lead Fairfield to its12th-straight win Wednesday night at Albia, going 2-4 with an inside-the-park home run that proved to be very important as the Trojans snapped a 7-7 tie in the seventh. Williams drove in three runs in the opener while Marisa Repp had four hits, including a double and a triple in the doubleheader, and scored twice in game one before driving in two runs in a 9-2 victory for Fairfield in game two.

Albia (7-8, 2-3) is back on the diamond this weekend as the Lady Dees head to the West Liberty Tournament. Davis County (11-10, 2-2) returns to SCC action tonight to battle for the conference lead with Clarke in Bloomfield while Fairfield (16-3) will be looking for their 14th-straight win tonight at home against Columbus Junction.
