Van Buren

beats Harmony

FARMINGTON – Even with their top pitcher still battling a back injury, the Van Buren softball team had no problem hammering out a Southeast Iowa Superconference south division win against county rival Harmony on Friday. The Warriors pounded out eight extra base hits in a 13-1 win in five innings in the battle of Van Buren County rivals despite Taylor Marguia lasting just 1 1/3 innings in the pitching circle.

Marguia hurt her back Monday night in an 8-6 loss to Danville and missed a 4-1 setback to West Burlington. After walking four batters Friday, Marguia was lifted for Alicia Fitzsimmons, who earned the win in the circle.
