---- — PEKIN – The Pekin softball team crushed Louisa-Muscatine 17-0 Tuesday in Southeast Iowa Superconference North action Tuesday.

The Panthers offensive assault was bolstered by Cheyann Lankford, who went 2-2 with three RBI. Additionally, Pekin's Brittany Gillam went 2-2 and Tiana Slaney, Lankford, Beth Atwood and Sloan Reighard all doubled. Lankford got the win on the hill for the Panthers. She fanned three batters while issuing one walk.

"We put the ball in play," Pekin coach Bryan Marlay said. "The game just kind of got away from them [the Falcons]. It's just one of those games where the ball just seemed to find the open spots."

Pekin (12-4, 8-8) plays at New London today.
