OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa boys track and field team finished seventh out of nine teams at the Waukee Boys Relays last Friday with a score of 12 points.
In one of the highlights of the day for the Bulldogs, the Ottumwa sprint medley team of Dillon Pearson, Trevor Anfinson, Osha Wylie, Jason Tahtinen zipped to a sixth-place finish in the 1,600 sprint medley relay with a time of 4 minutes and 6.88 seconds. In addition, Jalen Strunk captured eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with 1:03.31, Hunter McCoy came in eighth in the high jump with a vault of 5 feet, 6 inches and Osha Wylie corralled eighth in the high jump with a leap of 19-5.
Also, Chris Peden came in eighth in the shot put with a heave of 132-9, Isaiah Cox raced to a ninth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with 12.03 seconds and Cody McConnell came in ninth in the 1,600-meter run with 4:56.02 and in the 800-meter run with 2:13.76.
Waukee took first overall with 220 points and Johnston finished second with 121.5 points.
Ottumwa competes at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the CIML Metro Conference Championships.
