Comets knock off eighth-ranked West Burlington

Nataliah Hopkins picked up her fifth-straight win in the pitching circle for the Rockets. The senior hurler struck out 10 Sabers and didn’t allow a run until the seventh.

The Rockets didn't need a full seven innings to score a second straight 11-1 win in South Central Conference action against Chariton. EBF put away the Chargers in just five innings.

"Our bats are really starting to come to life. The kids are really seeing the ball pretty well," EBF head coach Tony Fenton said. "Haegen (Boyer) came up with a double and triple right off the bat for us (against Chariton). The girls are really starting to step it up."

EBF (6-1, 2-0) will be part of a busy Oskaloosa Invitational tournament on Saturday, facing Washington, Newton and Lynnville-Sully. Twin Cedars (3-2), which got two doubles and run from lead-off hitter Brittney Roby, will also be a part of the tournament in Oskaloosa taking on North Mahaska and Newton.
