Top-ranked Twin Cedars no-hits Moulton-Udell

“We were looking for line drives to the opposite field and we didn’t do that too well tonight,” said Miller.

This summer’s M-U baseball team (2-1, 2-1) only has four players returning that played last season. The Eagle squad is made up of those four players, some young guys, and some players from Seymour.

“We need to hit better, but give us a couple of weeks and I think we will be pretty solid defensively,” said Martsching. “Right now, we’re kind of learning on the fly”.

M-U will play tonight at Mormon Trail. The 9-0, top-ranked Sabers are starting a tough part of their schedule.

Saturday, the Sabers they will play Lisbon and Springville in the Lisbon Tournament. Next

week they will have games against Albia and a much-anticipated home game with third-ranked Van Buren on Monday. The Sabers would have faced the Warriors in the Class 1A State Championship last summer if not for a 3-0 semifinal round loss to eventual champion Mason City Newman.

“We look at it like we are in a group of ranked teams. All of them good. We are happy to be in that group,” said Miller. “This team is a mature group with a good attitude. Because of that, we are not playing with any extra pressure due to rankings.”
