CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Big Reds have finally completed a conference series, as they recorded a two-game sweep over the Davis County Mustangs Friday.
The Reds posted a 10-3 win in the first game. Michael Starcevich was awarded the win after going six innings with 10 strikeouts. Starcevich would go 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Jared Armington also drove in three runs after going 2-for-4.
In the nightcap, a four-run third inning helped lift the Reds to a 5-1 victory. Kolton Gonnerman pitched the first five innings for seven strikeouts and the win. Grant Walker went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, as one of three hits the Reds recorded in their victory.
Centerville (5-4, 2-0 in SCC) will travel to Albia on Tuesday to finish up a doubleheader that was started, but not finished on last Tuesday. Centerville and Albia will pick up in the top of the fifth with Albia ahead 2-1. The first game will start at 5:30 p.m. Davis County (3-6, 1-3) plays two games at the Cardinal Comet Tournament today.
