Mustangs take down Comets in Eldon

ELDON — For the second time this season, the Davis County baseball team picked up a victory on the road at Cardinal over the Comets. Drew Thornsberry’s complete-game effort on the mound and a balanced hitting attack led the Mustangs to an 11-4 win over Cardinal Wednesday night.

Park Mikels led the Mustangs with three hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Saban Goodson added a double as part of a two-hit effort that including a game-best four runs driven in while the Davis County sophomore also scored twice in the win.

Conner McElderry had a double and two RBI for the Comets while Dakota Showman added two hits and was one of four Comets to score in the loss. Cardinal (13-8) returns to the diamond on Friday at Winfield-Mount Union while Davis County (12-18) plays at home against Central Lee.
