Warrior spikers finish off tourney with Saturday sweeps

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. — After battling through a couple of tough days just to salvage splits in its opening four matches of the season in Illinois, the Indian Hills volleyball team wrapped up the weekend at the South Suburban Tournament by breezing through a pair of wins. The Warriors swept Prairie State 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 Saturday morning, then turned right around to take three more games over Ancilla State 25-8, 25-18, 25-22.

Sophomore Shelby Lauterbach wrapped up a solid tournament by leading IHCC’s attack in both matches. Lauterbach was 26-28 hitting against Prairie State with 12 kills, then missed just one of 26 swings at the net against Ancilla State with 10 more kills in the Warriors’ finale.

Indian Hills finished the first three days of competition in the 2013 volleyball season winning four of its first six matches. The 4-2 Warriors will return to compete for the first time in the Hawkeye State tonight when IHCC travels to Creston to take on Southwestern at 7 p.m.
