Falcons split at Ellsworth

IOWA FALLS – After dropping a second straight game in north central Iowa on Thursday, the Indian Hills Falcons broke out the big bats to break back into the win column as they head back into regional play this weekend. IHCC clubbed five extra base hits, including four doubles, to salvage a second doubleheader split in as many days as the Falcons followed a split in Iowa Central with on in Ellsworth, winning 13-3 in the nightcap after dropping an 8-4 decision in Thursday’s first game.

IHCC erupted offensively in the second game after Ellsworth used a four-run third inning to take the lead for good in game one.

The Falcons pounded out 17 hits in the second game with Darryl Velez going 4-5 at the plate with four runs scored while Nicholas Perez had three hits and three RBI.

Indian Hills (23-16) returns to Region XI play for a pivotal four-game weekend series at Marshalltown, starting Saturday with a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m. The Falcons enter the next-to-last weekend of the regular season two games behind first place Iowa Western, who play at Centerville next weekend, and two games ahead of the Tigers.
