ALBIA — Three Albia players combined for six points to help lift the Blue Demon boys soccer team to a 6-1 victory over PCM Friday.
Skyler Bettis, Ethan Gray and Shadow Leshen each scored two points in the contest. It was Bettis who got the Blue Demons on the scoreboard early, as he scored off an assist from Anthony Tuttle only about three minutes into the game to put his team up 1-0. PCM was able to tie the match at 1-1 later in the first half before Bettis struck again 26:13 into the game.
Gray and Leshen accounted for the rest of the Blue Demon’s goals.
“We’ve been practicing finishing a lot lately,” Albia soccer coach Gary Gravert said. “We missed some early opportunities, but after they tied it we put the ball on goal a lot. The players put the ball on goal and our defenders got the ball to our goal scorers. Good things happen when you’re winning the ball.”
The Blue Demons had fifteen shots on goal in the contest.
Albia (4-2) plays at 5 p.m. Tuesday at home against Cedar Valley Christian.
