ALBIA — The Albia boys soccer team used a balanced offensive attack to trounce Cedar Valley Christian 5-1 Tuesday.
The Blue Demons received goals from five of their players on their way to a victory over the Huskies.
“We played very strong in the midfield,” Albia coach Gary Gravert said.
“We had the ball in our half most of the match. It was a really fine all-around game by all of our guys.”
The Blue Demons got early goals from Tanner Kellogg and Skylar Bettis to take a 2-0 league less than 20 minutes into the match.
Kellogg’s goal came off an assist from Shadow Leshen and Bettis received an assist from Matthew Delaney.
Anthony Tuttle and Shadow Leshen added two more goals before halftime to extend Albia’s lead to 4-0.
Colton Dorpinghaus provided the Blue Demons with their final goal of the match 57:50 into the game.
The Huskies finally got on the scoreboard with under 10 minutes left in regulation.
Albia got 11 shots on goal, with three of those shots coming from Tuttle.
Gabe Gravert had a slow night at goalkeeper, finishing with only two saves.
The Blue Demons (5-2) play Chariton Thursday.
