Big bats propel IHCC to two wins

TRENTON, Mo. – The Indian Hills baseball team put on a hitting clinic Tuesday against the North Central Missouri Pirates, scoring a combined 33 runs on its way to two victories over the Pirates.

The Falcons won by an astounding total of 22-8 in game one, and they shut out North Central Missouri 11-0 in the nightcap. Junior Santos and Joel Booker combined for five home runs and 10 RBI in the first game. The two Falcon players, however, had plenty of company in the hitting department. Tyler Hermann went 4-5 with 5 RBI, Edgar Lebron went 2-3 and Jordan Berry drove in 4 runs.

Falcon Marcco Lovato put in four strong innings of work on the mound to get the victory in game one. Lovato gave up one unearned run, struck out three and surrendered three hits.

Even though the Falcons didn’t match their first game performance in a nightcap that only lasted 5 1/2 innings, they still remained extremely proficient at the plate. Indian Hills’ offensive production came from a variety of sources, as five of its players finished with two or more hits. Juan Figueroa went 2-3 at the plate and drove home five runs and Nicolas Perez, Lebron, Kevin Valera and Zach Sims also went 2-3.

Luke Schneider matched the prodigies Indian Hills performed at the plate with his own prowess on the pitching mound. The Falcon pitcher surrendered no runs while giving up five hits and striking out seven in five innings of work.

Indian Hills (28-17, 13-7) plays Maple Woods today at home.
