Oskaloosa linkster plays well at Grinnell Invitational

GRINNELL — The Oskaloosa boys golf team's Clay Tucker came within a hair of claiming runner-up honors at the Grinnell Invitational, finishing with a round of 75.

Grinnell's Zach McGriff also shot a round of 75, however, he triumphed in the playoff to secure a second-place finish.

"Clay Tucker had a good round again," Indian golf coach Bret Foster said.

Despite Tucker's quality round, Oskaloosa had to settle for fifth out of seven teams with a collective round of 341.

Andrew Brouwer finished second among the Indians with a round of 88 and Tanner Lanphier and Ethan Farner both shot an 89. Rounding things out for Oskaloosa were Andrew Shaffer, who carded an 91, and Bailey Barnhart, who shot a 94.

"We have sectionals this Friday, so we need to improve as much as possible before then," Foster said.
