“We are really looking forward to this weekend of racing,” said Gerald Kramer, ERP General Manager. “This is the first of our big events of the season. So come on out and see some great drag racing this weekend.”
The Bloomfield Speedway has two night of racing scheduled during the Memorial Weekend with Saturday night being the Davis County Hospital EMS Week. There will be free grandstand admission for all EMS personnel with proper identification. Ambulances will be on display and local radio controlled cars will be on display and at intermission the r/c cars will take to the front stretch for everyone to see how fast and what these cars can do.
Then on Monday, it will be the Golden Furrow Memorial Day Monday Madness with hot laps getting underway at 5 p.m., which is an hour earlier than normal. The Sport Modifieds, Sport Compacts, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars and 305 Sprint Cars will be racing and it will be the first qualifier for the Budweiser Six Pack Shootout for Stock Cars. This is a really neat deal where they will draw admission tickets and pair the fans with a certain driver in the Stock Car feature and if their driver wins the Stock Car feature they will be qualified for a chance at $50,000.
They will do this six times throughout the year which makes six qualifiers total and then on the final qualifier night those six fans will roll four cubes with sponsors on them and if all four cubes land with The Bloomfield Speedway facing up they will pocket a cool $50,000. Even if they don’t win the $50K they will get some prizes from the sponsors of this series.
This sounds like a cool deal. I wish everyone good luck.
The Knoxville Raceway has Titan Machinery as the sponsor for their Saturday night of action and the 305 Sprinters will be in action along with the 360 and 410 Sprinters. The Figure 8 races return to the Keokuk County Fairgrounds in What Cheer Saturday after they were rained out two weeks ago.
Well I better wrap it up for this week. Thanks for reading and head on out to a race at one or more of these fine local tracks.
I’ll see you at the track. Gone racin’.
