---- — OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa 15-year-old Babe Ruth baseball team will hold a fundraiser carnival. The event will be held at the Babe Ruth Fields in the Greater Ottumwa Park on Sunday afternoon from 3-7 p.m.
Part of the event will feature a scrimmage among the players of the Iowa state and Midwest Plains regional championship team. The Ottumwa Babe Ruth squad is looking to raise funds to help with the costs of travel expenses as the team has qualified for the Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 World Series, which will be held in Purcellville, Va., from Aug. 17-24.
The Ottumwa Babe Ruth team will have to pay for lodging, travel and meals while staying at the Babe Ruth World Series. The squad has been asking businesses the help raise money for the endeavor of covering those expenses for the players and coaches. Any monies that can be contributed to the effort would be greatly appreciated.
