AREA WRESTLING ACTION: Seventh-ranked Blue Demons sweep on Senior Night

ALBIA — Unbeaten Sigourney knocks off Trojans at TCM duals

MONTEZUMA — The Sigourney wrestling team maintained a perfect dual record by scoring a pair of South Iowa Cedar League wins on Thursday night at the Tri-County/Montezuma duals. The Savages followed a 44-18 win over BGM by knocking off the host Trojans, 46-29.

Josh Yoder got things rolling for Sigourney against TCM, pinning Colton Maschman in 55 seconds in the 145-pound opener. Noah Schuster late-match pin against Jacob Weber at 182 and an 8-0 major decision for 220-pound grappler Tucker Fowler added to the Savages lead.

Nathan Fritz (120) and Wesley Yoder (145) both scored pins in the win over BGM. Lane Boender (138) and Cole Striegle (170) also earned major decisions for the Savages.

The Trojans salved one win on the night, beating out BGM 36-25 after also falling short against Lynnville-Sully (40-34) and Iowa Valley (59-24). Top-ranked 160-pound junior Tyler Foubert led the way once again for the Trojans, scoring three pins in a total of 1:44 including wins in 14 and 15 seconds to improve to 25-0 on the year.

TCM (12-6, 4-3) will next wrestle at the WACO Tournament on Saturday while Sigourney (12-0, 7-0) will compete at Hudson.
