Lindemulder, Long take titles at Lake Fisher

Albia, Centerville take team titles

BLOOMFIELD — The Albia cross country team fared well at the Lake Fisher Invite Saturday. The Albia girls repeated as team champions for their third title in the last four years, while the boys team came in second.

Centerville won the boys race, as Levi Long was the individual champ with a time of 18:18 for the Big Reds. Davis County’s Sarah Lindemulder took the individual title in the girls race with a time of 17:17.

Nate Robinson finished in second place for Centerville in a time of 18:56. Robert Sheets and Jordan McCoy each had top 10 finishes for the Reds.

Logan Dorpinghaus led the Albia boys with a time of 19:02 — good enough for third place. It was Dorpinghaus’ third top four finish of the year.

Albia freshman Kyle McFall placed fifth with a time of 19:10. Devon Gottschalk, Clayton Sparks, Matt Myers, William Wynn and Mitchel Sparks all finished in the top 12.

“We know Logan [Dorpinghaus] is going to always be consistently tough, as he was today,” Albia coach Todd Ratliff said. “Where our surprises came from Kyle [McFall], Devon [Gottschalk] and Clayton [Sparks].”

For Davis County, Nathan Drummond came through with a sixth place finish in a time of 19:15. Aaron Thomas placed 14th, Kevin Ashmore 15th and Philip Gingerich 17th. Moravia’s Mile McCoy came in 16th place for the boys.

For the Albia girls, Nicole McLain paced Albia with a second place finish — crossing the finish line in 18:06. Brooke Scieszinski came in right behind McLain in third.

Amy Beal, Amanda Ambrose, Calleigh Bunnell, Spenser Johnson and Ashley Ambrose rounded out the Albia runners — all finishing in the top 13.

Lindemulder led the Davis County girls, while Amanda Wakelin came in fourth (19:21) and Kristen Clawson fifth (19:44).

The Moravia girls were paced by an eighth-place finish by Jessie Naughton (20:05), while Brittany Spaur placed 11th and Rachel Godby 12th.
