Indian Hills sophomore guard Ronald Ross has been ordered to appear in Des Moines County court this morning at 9 a.m., weather permitting. The Burlington Hawkeye reported on Thursday that Ross has been ordered to appear after being charged Monday with serious assault, a serious misdemeanor charge, as a result of the brawl that took place following the third-ranked Warriors double overtime win at Southeastern on Saturday night.
Ross was arrested following the incident and charged with serious assault for a punch that left Billy Carroll, son of Southeastern head coach Terry Carroll, with a laceration to his upper lip. The Indianapolis native also received a three-game suspension from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, the most of the 10 player and coach suspensions handed out by the ICCAC for the brawl.
A scuffle broke out between Indian Hills and Southeastern players in front of the Blackhawks bench and drew both players and fans into the fight, which spilled into the hallways after starting inside Loren Walker Arena. Three people, Carroll, IHCC head coach Barret Peery and an unidentified woman, all had to be transported to Great River Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained during the brawl.
There is no word on how the impending winter weather conditions will impact the scheduled court appearance.
