The late February snowstorms that have plagued the midwest over the past couple of weeks has delayed the start of yet another spring sports season for Indian Hills. The 2013 Falcon baseball season will start in on a new day, in a new place, after several inches of snow forced IHCC to cancel their scheduled three-day, four-game weekend series at Maple Woods Community College in Liberty, Mo.
Cam Walker’s squad will now open the new season this Wednesday afternoon as the Falcons make a stop in Oklahoma on their way out to Arizona for eight days of competition. The Falcons will play their opener at Seminole State with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
IHCC’s first game of the season was to be played on Friday at Maple Woods, which is located just outside of Kansas City. The metro area where the Maple Woods campus is located was one of the hardest hit areas of the recent snowstorm, making the school’s baseball diamond unplayable until warmer weather arrives.
The Falcons join IHCC’s softball team in having their season delayed by the recent winter weather. The Warriors got their season started a week later on Friday in Alabama after canceling a trip to Northeast Mississippi due to travel conditions last week.
