Pekin girls take first at Montezuma

---- — MONTEZUMA -- The Pekin girls track and field team continued its stupendous season Tuesday with a first place finish at the Lew-Lunday Relays with a collective score of 167 points.

Once again, the Panthers final tally was spurred by a blitz of first place finishes. Gwynne Wright turned in an august performance, as she took first place in the 800 meters with 2:21.54 and she blazed to a first place finish in the 1,500 meters with 5:12.99. Pekin's Mallory Reed took first in 100-meter hurdles with 16.76, Taylor Lock zipped to a first-place finish in the 3,000 meters with 11:37.19 and Maranda Baker claimed first place honors in the shotput with a heave of 35-4.

The Panthers also were very successful in relay events, as they took home first place honors in the 4x400 (4:26.71), 4x800 (10:46.68) and the distance medley (4:47.07).

The Panthers nearest competitor, South Tama, finished with 140 points.
