Oskaloosa falls to Knoxville in LHC girls hoops

---- — OSKALOOSA — Despite cracking the 40-point barrier for the first time this season, the Oskaloosa girls basketball team could not crack into the win column in the Little Hawkeye Conference on Tuesday. Knoxville used an 8-0 run to end the first quarter and a 9-2 run in the second half to pull away for a 53-41 win against the Indians.

“This was definitely our best night executing offensively. We got a lot of rebounds, which got us a lot of second-chance opportunities,” Oskaloosa head girls basketball coach Steve Kaisland said. “Those were the two big runs that really cost us.”

Alexis Westercamp produced a huge double-double for Oskaloosa with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Ricki Hall had 19 points for Knoxville to lead all scorers while the Panthers also got a 15-point effort from Ashley Hawkshead to help seal the victory.

Oskaloosa (1-14, 0-9) is back in action on the road Tuesday night at Pella Christian.

Rocket girls fall to Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont girls team fell to Mount Pleasant 53-50 Tuesday despiting getting a team-high 25 points from Tasha Alexander.

"I though our second quarter was a big difference in the game," Fenton said. "Mount Pleasant went to the line 12 times in the second quarter and made 10 free throws. That helped keep them in the game."

Karlie Taylor added to the Rockets' offensive firepower with with 13 points and Sadie Baugher scored eight.

Alexander catalyzed EBF's offense with four assists and she also came up with a team-high six steals.

EBF (12-5, 6-1) plays host to Centerville Friday in a South Central Conference game.
