---- — MONROE — The Albia Lady Dees golf team finished second out of eight schools on Thursday afternoon at the PCM Invitational at the Gateway Recreation Golf Course in Monroe.

The host school PCM continued their strong season, defeating the Lady Dees by 28 shots, firing a 403 for 18 holes. Albia was led by Lexie Van Polen with a 100 and Cassie Crall with a 102.

“The bright spots this afternoon were Lexie getting her consistency back and giving us the score we need from her,” Albia head girls golf coach Mike Duea said. “That was a super round for her and gave her a fourth-place finish with over 40 golfers in a substantial meet.”

At the Moravia Triangular on Monday, the Albia girls won easily in a nine-hole event at The Preserve. Albia finished at 210 led by runner-up medalists Crall and Niki Angran with 51.

Melcher-Dallas was second with a 269, and Moravia had 299. Moravia’s Shaye Brewer shot 50 for medalist honors in the meet.

Albia is right back in action with the Oskaloosa Invitational today.
