Ottumwa linksters take second at Kennedy Invitational

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Ottumwa girls golf team finished a solid second at the Kennedy Invitational Monday at the Ellis Golf Course with a collective score of 345.

The Bulldogs final tally was bolstered by Whitney Dostal and Darby Patritto, who both finished with rounds of 79.

"Never having seen the courses before," Ottumwa golf coach Scott Maas said, "that's pretty good."

Cedar Rapids Xavier captured first place honors with 333 strokes. Ottumwa's Abbie Budan shot a 92 and Ottumwa's Callie Lawson finished with a 95. Rounding things out for Ottumwa were Bailey Palmer, who carded a 100, and Hannah Lien, who shot a 102.

"Our girls are confident," Maas said. "They know they can play."

The Bulldogs will compete in the CIML Metro Conference Meet that will be put on by Des Moines East Wednesday at the Grandview Golf Course in Des Moines.
