Bambrook shines, Rockets sweep Blue Demons

EDDYVILLE – Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont swept Albia in a doubleheader in South Central Conference Action Monday, shutting out the Blue Demons 11-0 in game one and beating Albia 5-2 in the nightcap.

Christian Bambrook had an all-around solid game for the Rockets. He recorded the win on the mound, striking out an impressive 12 batters while yielding only two hits to the Blue Demons. At the plate, Bambrook went 3-3 and drove in three runs and catcher Chance Wursta went 2-2 and drove in two RBI.

Trevor Swartz was the winning pitcher in game two. Swartz turned in a commendable performance, allowing four hits, two runs, one of them earned; while striking out three. Bambrook went 3-3 at the plate for the second-straight game and Wursta went 2-3 with two RBI.

"They are putting the ball in play hard," E-B-F baseball coach Rod Ashman said about Bambrook and Wursta.Albia played Oskaloosa today in a non-conference game.

E-B-F (11-3, 7-1) plays at Davis County Thursday in South Central Conference action.
