Van Buren sweeps SEISC south match with MSAE

KEOSAUQUA — Senior Nicole Coffin led Van Buren with nine aces on 17-19 serving while collecting eight digs as the Warriors earned a Southeast Iowa Superconference south division sweep of Fairfield Maharishi on Thursday.

Fellow senior Alicia Fitzsimmons led Van Buren at the net, joining Grace Thomas with five kills while going 12-15 on attacks. Thomas also had three blocks on defense while Libby King dished out 16 assists to lead the Warriors.

Van Buren will stay in county for a weekend tournament on Saturday as the Warriors (2-4, 2-3) will play in the Harmony Tournament. MSAE (0-16, 0-5) will return to action, along with Van Buren, in the SEISC Tournament next Thursday.
