---- — OTTUMWA - Last year’s Indian Hills Community College softball team has received a second academic honor. The Warriors were recently named an All-Academic Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The 2013 Warriors had one of the top team grade point averages among all NFCA member two-year schools in the nation, finishing in the top 20 in that category.

The IHCC softball team had earlier been named an All-Academic Team by the National Junior College Athletic Association, the 14th consecutive year the softball program had achieved that distinction from the NJCAA.

“I am really proud of how last year’s squad performed in the classroom,” said Indian Hills coach Jim Overturf, whose teams have been recognized for their academic prowess every year he’s been at IHCC. “Academic excellence is what we ask of our players every year and it was great to see their hard work in that area pay off.”
