---- — MORAVIA — A Meskwaki Settlement School football player has received controlled substance charges after Friday’s football game.
Staff from Moravia Schools reported a smell of marijuana coming from the visiting team’s locker room in Moravia. Deputies from the Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office were called to the school around 11:40 p.m. Friday night.
A 17-year-old player was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a pipe and a small amount of marijuana was found in the luggage compartment of the Meskwaki school bus.
The player’s name was not released as he is being charged as a juvenile.
Meskwaki beat Moravia 58-6.
