DES MOINES —  The Ottumwa girls basketball team fell to Des Moines Roosevelt 52-34, despite getting a career night out of Olivia Roark.

Roark scored a career-high 19 points and knocked down four 3-pointers.

“Olivia was special tonight,” coach Kevin Patterson said. “It’s one of the better individual performances that I’ve coached.”

Not only did Roark shine on offensive end, she also held Sierra Singleton, the Roughriders No. 2 option of offense, to three points.

Unfortunately, the rest of the Bulldogs were not able to feed off their senior guard’s energy. While Roark went five for 10 from the field, the rest of the team connected on only four of 26 shots.

“We missed nine shots from inside 10 feet so we’re just struggling finishing in close,” Patterson said. “We really have to finish.”

Sydney Strunk turned in a strong second half in which she scored all seven of her points. Ottumwa (2-9, 1-3) hosts West Des Moines Valley next Tuesday.
