OTTUMWA — Friday was a disappointing night in Des Moines for the Ottumwa girls basketball team.

Fortunately, the Bulldogs didn’t have to dwell on it for long.

Less then 24 hours after dropping a heartbreaking game at Des Moines Lincoln, the Bulldogs returned to the Capitol City for a CIML Metro make-up date with Des Moines North. Kevin Patterson’s squad left little doubt from the onset, allowing just three field goals to the Polar Bears while scoring the first nine points of the day in a 57-9 rout that snapped Ottumwa’s seven-game losing streak.

Senior Sydney Strunk scored 14 points for the Bulldogs while also leading the defensive charge with six of Ottumwa’s 18 steals. Olivia Roark added 11 points and a team-high four rebounds. Megan Black and Carissa Hite each added nine points.

Ottumwa (3-11, 2-5) will head back to Des Moines for the third time in five days. The Bulldogs will head to Hoover to face the Huskies on Tuesday night in a third straight CIML Metro road test.
