Byron Embry to speak at IHCC baseball banquet Feb. 7

CENTERVILLE — Former Indian Hills Community College baseball player Byron Embry will be the guest speaker for the annual IHCC baseball banquet this Thursday, Feb. 7. The event will be held at the Manhattan Supper Club in Centerville.

Embry was a pitcher on the IHCC Falcons’ 1996 and 1997 teams that qualified for the Junior College World Series. He signed a professional contract with the Atlanta Braves following the Falcons’ 1997 season. He also played in the Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners’ organizations in a pro career that spanned 12 seasons.

Following his retirement, Embry launched a career as a motivational speaker and is the founder of Closing Remarks, a leadership development and communication organization.

The IHCC banquet will include dinner, an auction, the introduction of the 2013 baseball squad and coaches and remarks by Embry. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. with a social beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased in advance at the Administration Building on the IHCC Centerville campus or by contacting any of the Indian Hills baseball coaches.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
