BULLDOG PREVIEW: OTTUMWA GIRLS BASKETBALL VS. ANKENY

OTTUMWA — Time and Place: The varsity contest is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m tonight at Evans Middle School in Ottumwa.

Records: Ottumwa is 0-2 overall, with losses to Fairfield and Washington. Ankeny is 0-1 after a loss last Friday to Des Moines East.

No Boys Allowed: The girls will have the gym to themselves tonight. The Ottumwa boys basketball game originally scheduled for tonight against Ankeny has been postponed. The boys contest will now be played on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Recent History: Last season Ankeny finished 22-4 and advanced all the way to the state finals, falling to Iowa City West in overtime. Ottumwa was 15-8 last season.

Fresh Faces: The Bulldogs graduated their top six leading scorers from last season, while Ankeny graduated four of its top five.

Coach Kevin Patterson says: “Every year our main focus is on the defensive end. We want to guard before we do anything else. Regardless of experience, you have to be able to play defense and rebound.”
