OTTUMWA — Katelynn Tracy broke the 1,000 point barrier in her august career and the Moravia girls basketball team dominated Seymour 56-14 in Bluegrass Conference action Thursday.

Tracy led Moravia’s offensive attack, scoring a game-high 23 points.

“She was just being strong with the ball and taking it right at the rim,” Mohawk coach Clint Woodward said.

Tracy’s exploits were not confined to points, either. She also pullled down a team-high 12 rebounds, dished out three assists and swatted away a team-best three shots.

Kendall Brown added 14 points for Moravia and Autumn McDanel led the Mohawks with three steals.

The Mohawks jumped out to a 23-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

“Definitely our defense got after it that first quarter,” Woodward said.

Shayla Russell led the Warriors with seven points.

Seymour (0-2) plays Newtown-Harris, Mo. Tuesday. Moravia (2-0) hosts Melcher-Dallas tonight.
