AREA PREP BOYS BASKETBALL ACTION: Sigourney boys blow out HLV

OTTUMWA — The Sigoruney boys basketball team built a 15-point first-quarter lead and exploded on a 22-11 third-quarter advantage in a 72-39 South Iowa Cedar League blowout win on Tuesday.

Vaclav Bujnoch scored 25 points and hauled in 16 rebounds to lead the way for the Savages, while Brandon Stuhr added 20 points. Sigourney improved to 5-2 overall and is scheduled to travel to North English on Thursday.

LaPLATA, Mo. — The Moulton-Udell boys basketball team had four players hit double figures — two with double-doubles — as they improved to 7-1 overall with a 74-51 win over La Plata (Mo.) in non-conference action on Tuesday.

Kyle Neher had 18 points and 14 rebounds while Quentin Fowler scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Eagles, who are scheduled to travel to Corydon to take on Wayne today. Trey Stansberry scored 16 points — 12 of those from beyond the 3-point arc — and Kalen Martsching scored 15 points and dished seven assists. Neher also had six steals for the Eagles, who led just 33-30 at the half. M-U broke the game open with a 24-11 third-quarter run.
