ALBIA — Margaret Lucille (Roberts) Cooper, age 94, of Albia, Iowa died Monday March 27, 2006, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 13, 1911 in Hynes, Iowa to Charles E. and Anna (Price) Anderson. She married Ivan Benjamin Roberts in December of 1930. He died in 1955. She later married D.W. “Doc” Cooper in 1975. He died in 1993.
Margaret was a homemaker, and also worked at Drake University in Des Moines. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Eastern Star, both of Albia. She enjoyed raising her roses, and also visiting with her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her children, Charles J. (Angie) Roberts of Newton, Thomas L. (friend Barbara) Roberts of Albia, and step-daughter, Deanie (Lloyd) McDowell of Moravia. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Carolyn, Stephanie, Jessica, and Tim Roberts, Donna Mikesell, and Carla Dippold; five great-grandchildren, Eric and Jeremy Roberts, Michael and Stacie Dippold, and Morgan Pinegar.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; one brother, Harold Anderson; three step children, Elster Cooper, Betty Pyle, and Willis Cooper.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with Rev. Bud Lane officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery in rural Monroe County.
Visitation will open after 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at the Winfield Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Memorials may be given to Cuba Cemetery or to Avery Methodist Church.
