DES MOINES — The Iowa Lottery’s announcement may make it sound like a broken record, but it’s hard to imagine anyone minds.
For the second time in the past couple weeks, a Wapello County resident has picked up a $50,000 prize from a scratch-off game. Deena Arndt, of Ottumwa, won playing the “Struck by Luck” game. She bought the ticket at the BP station at 720 Richmond Avenue.
When Arndt claimed her prize at lottery headquarters, she told officials she had kept it in her purse because she didn’t want to risk losing it. Arndt said she “kept reaching in my purse to feel, make sure it’s there,” before making the trip to claim the win.
The win comes on the heels of another Ottumwa woman taking a prize for the same amount in a different scratch-off game.
