OTTUMWA — Next week’s Thanksgiving holiday is bringing several changes to city and county schedules.
• City of Ottumwa departments and offices at City Hall, Ottumwa Water and Hydro offices, and all Wapello County offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. The Ottumwa, Calvary and Jewish Cemetery office, 1302 N. Court St., will also be closed those days, and Ottumwa Transit buses will not be in operation.
• Weekly curbside trash and recycling collection inside city limits are not affected by the holiday. However, rural trash and recycling customers with Thursday collection dates will be moved up to Tuesday, Nov. 26. Thursday bulky item and yard waste pickup will also be moved up to Tuesday, Nov. 26. This will be the final day for Ottumwa’s curbside yard waste pickup in 2019. Those needing bulky item pickup need to call items in by 3 p.m. Nov. 25.
• The Ottumwa/Wapello Landfill and Recycling Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and will re-open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.
• The Ottumwa Public Library will be closed Nov. 28-29 and will resume operation 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
