OTTUMWA — Several buildings in the Ottumwa school district will see different faces leading the way in 2019-20.
One of the changes involves the placement of Ottumwa High School principal Dan McGuire, who submitted his resignation in March, citing family concerns. McGuire will now serve as principal at Evans Middle School. “With changes in his personal life, we are fortunate he has decided to continue to serve the Ottumwa community,” Superintendent Nicole Kooiker said Tuesday with the announcement. McGuire's initial resignation led to the April hiring of Richard “Hutch” Hutchinson for the open position at OHS.
Joining McGuire at Evans will be Aaron Ruff, currently an associate principal at OHS, a role he has served in for two years.
Current Evans principal Steve Zimmerman will now move to Liberty Elementary as associate principal. He has also served as associate principal at OHS and has been with the district 28 years. Evans Associate Principal Shelley Bramschreiber will move to OHS for a similar role.
“We are looking forward to continuing to build our leadership capacity across the district and also excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Ottumwa school system,” said Kooiker.
