OTTUMWA — The first day of school is just a month out, and to prepare students, Evans Middle School has a couple of events planned.
The EMS Bulldog Bash is set for 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 21. A meal will be served in the rubber gym for all families. Students will be able to visit their classrooms, meet their teachers and learn about extracurricular activities. In addition, parents and students will have an opportunity to attend a brief presentation by Principal Dan McGuire about expectations at Evans.
A sixth-grade orientation will follow from 9:15-11:45 a.m. Aug. 22. This will allow for sixth-graders to go through their schedule, meet their teachers, practice their locker combinations and ask questions they may have before the first day of school. A light lunch will be served, and parents are welcome to attend with their students.
