OTTUMWA — Jurors have found an Ottumwa man not guilty of burglary and sexual abuse.

Gonzalo Rios was charged in 2017. Law enforcement accused Rios of breaking into a woman’s apartment and sexually assaulting her in June 2016.

The case went to trial, and jurors acquitted Rios of both charges. Rios had also faced a charge of witness tampering, but that charge was dismissed by the court during the trial.

In other area cases:

• Miguel Tojin-Chivalan is scheduled for sentencing in November after being found guilty of disarming a peace officer, interference with official acts and eluding.

• Jeremy Steenhoek will serve at least three years in prison and a maximum of 15 years after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Both charges had habitual offender enhancements.
