Are you a female who graduated in 2005 from Ottumwa High School (OHS) and have lost your class ring?
A woman in Granite City, Ill., has called the school to report finding an OHS class ring at a Burger King in Granite City.
Bobbie McCarty, administrative assistant to the OHS principal, said she spoke with the woman, who doesn’t have the means to photograph the ring and send an email to the school.
So, the two women noted the details about the ring during a phone call.
“It’s a female’s class ring and it says ‘Nicole’ down one side and the other side has pompoms,” McCarty said. “So, we figure [ring owner] was a cheerleader.”
McCarty hopes the owner, or someone who knows her, will see the newspaper article and call the school.
“Then we can put her in touch with the ring holder,” she added.
McCarty also said she worked on a ring story last year. Someone found a ring in New Mexico and McCarty helped the finder get the ring to the owner, who lost it 30 years ago at Heady’s Truck Stop, formerly at Mary Street and U.S. Highway 63 South.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact McCarty at OHS, 641-683-4444, ext. 2517.
