KEOSAUQUA — One man was killed and two other people were injured in a Monday crash in Van Buren County.
The crash happened at J40 and Iowa Oak Grove Avenue at 8:08 p.m. The Iowa State Patrol said a vehicle driven by Roswell Elmer Pearl Spiker Jr., 71, of Douds, crossed the center line and struck and oncoming vehicle driven by Kellie Maureen Simmons-Kirkhart, 38, of Cantril.
The crash killed Spiker. Simmons-Kirkhart and Donna Jean Kirkhart, 66, of Cantril, were both taken to a hospital in Keosauqua for treatment. All three people were wearing their seat belts, and the patrol credited that with saving the women’s lives.
The crash remains under investigation.
