FAIRFIELD — Maharishi University of Management is no more.
The Fairfield school announced Wednesday that it has been renamed Maharishi International University, the name it held from when it was founded in 1971 to 1996. The original change came as part of an effort to reflect the school’s offering of MBA and Ph.D programs in additional to its bachelor’s degrees.
Dr. John Hagelin, the university’s president, said he believes the name “best reflects who we are, who we’re for, and what we do,” and serves as a reflection of the school’s goals for global reach.
According to the school, about 75 percent of the students are from countries outside the United States.
