OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Municipal Band begins its 155th season with a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in Central Park.
The band claims the distinction of being the oldest continuously-operating municipal band in Iowa, and this is Brenda Hagedon’s 10th year as musical director.
Thursday’s concert will draw on the 1940s as a tribute to the 75th anniversary of D-Day. The band performs weekly concerts each Thursday evening in June and July. Audiences bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music outdoors.
While rain is not expected, the concert will move to Quincy Place Mall if inclement weather approaches.
